A bowl that brings balance
Discover a delightful and deeply relaxing massage technique for hands and feet using a Kasa Bowl.
Rhiannon was introduced to this Ayurvedic treatment by Sharon Strathis a few years ago. The shape of the bowl fits perfectly into her palm, the rounded side of a pre-warmed and well oiled Kasa Bowl is applied directly to the recipient’s palm or plantar surface of the foot (bottom of the foot) with light, fast, circular movements. The conductivity of the metal interacts the energy field of the body and aids in homeostasis by helping to balance the doshas, particularly pitta and vata. Doshas are biological energies found throughout the human body and mind. Balanced doshas mean good health.
The word kasa (or kasya, or kansya) is from the Sanskrit word kansya which means ‘bronze’. Metals are used extensively in Ayurvedic treatments. This bowl was manufactured at a cottage level in the North West of India, it is made of copper and tin – basically a bronze bowl! Copper is thought to help in reducing pain and inflammation while tin is thought to be helpful in digestion, relieving headaches and insomnia.
Book in with Rhiannon at Fulcrum Massage to experience this relaxing and balancing technique incorporated into a massage or reflexology treatment. Please don’t be concerned with the ‘state’ of your feet, the treatment will commence with a cleansing and purifying Himalayan rock salt foot scrub. Absolutely divine!
